Alright. This is ALBERTA! We are north of Moscow for goodness sake. Everybody seems upset by a little snow. I do understand, believe me, I have to drive a minimum of 3 hours in this nonsense on less-than-well-kept highways north of the city Every Day – it frazzles me too. But, more often then not, I am dazzled by the beauty winter brings. As a bride who had a winter wedding, I feel that winter has a charm that is vastly unappreciated. Yes, you have to bundle up, yes you have to plug your car in, yes you have to hustle from one exterior door to the next to escape the wind nipping at your nose and ears. But just think about what it brings:
It’s cold enough that you HAVE to cuddle.
Salted Caramel Hot Chocolates (yes, I capitalized it!)
Brightly decorated and lit up trees.
Rosy noses and cheeks that can be warmed only by nuzzling (Yes. Everything ALWAYS comes back to cuddling with me…)
Winter jackets (that are soooo purdy!)
Gorgeous accessories like hats, gloves and scarves.
Boots, of course.
And then, of course, there is the unparalleled splendour of nature herself. She outdoes herself at this time of year. The incredible patterns of ice on the window. The unbelievable formations of hoarfrost on each twig, each blade of grass. The peaceful silence and calm that a snowfall brings.
Button up Alberta. We’ve got a long ways to go before spring so we might as well enjoy it!
