There was nothing that was not lovely about this wedding.
The weather was perfect (almost!).
The scenery was amazing.
The people… The people were lovely.
My day started off with the groom, Dimitru, where he was getting ready with his best man, his best man’s son, and his mother. A romanian family that came to Alberta from Italy for the wedding, they brought with them a host of family and cultural traditions that were carried out deliberately with love reverence. I knew from the first few moments with them that it was going to be a special day.
The ceremony took place at Kailey’s family farm. She had set up the location with a backdrop of vintage picture frames and birdcages, and the area was filled with lovely details such as old bottles that had been painted, vintage chests and chalkboard signs to give guests direction. The ceremony was simple and just what it needed to be. Immediately following the ceremony, the skies opened up and deluged down on us, so for the first portion of portraits, we took refuge in a beautiful house that is being build by kind neighbours. From there, the sun returned and we ventured out again to find some lovely light. The happinessĀ in the newly married couple simply radiates from them and one of my personal favourite moments came when, at the top of a hill, the bride grabbed her flowing skirts and started twirling around with complete joy while her new husband looked on…
Great job!
